Artifact 2- Amazon River

As my second artifact, I chose my multimedia google slides to improve a previous obsolete power point presentation about the Amazon River.  I included existing information provided by district curriculum; I added updated videos and pictures that students can access when learning about the life on the Amazon River.  One item that I normally don’t include was the citation piece at the end of my presentation. While using google slides, I learned how to hyperlink a web site into words, videos,  and pictures. I also learned how to attach my slide presentation to my google site.  Having this presentation on my google site will help me become more organized and it will help my students to have access to content.   I hope to use slides as a sharing tool with my students where they share information about a given animal with the purpose of creating a whole class book. Before foundations of technology class, I really didn’t pay attention to give credit to ...

Artifact 1 Google sites

Google sites Easy and Fun way to bridge education! Canvas is the preferred learning management system for my school district. After getting frustrated with this site for forty minutes and trying to find information on the LINDA website, I decided to try google sites. I looked at a five-minute video on how to use google sites and Boom! It was super easy to navigate and use the tools.  I learned how to hyperlink web site into pictures and videos. However, there are two small issues with my site. The first issue is that is not a public website and the second issue is adding this website to my Canvas site. The first issue is that I created my google site with my district account; it is very difficult to access it L the only way to access it is with a Naperville 203 email account and invitation. If anyone knows how to change it, this is something I would like to modify prior to the start of the school year.   I look forward to adding more subjects, topics, and units to...

My thoughts about Foundations of Education Technology

Throughout the course, Foundations of Education Technology,   I have learned different applications of technology in the classroom and the many responsibilities that entail being a digital citizen. As 21st-century educators, our responsibility is to know the technologies we are using and to educate students on their proper use.  Educators need to have open channels of communication with parents and students to prevent cyber bullying. The class Foundation of Education Technology provided me with insightful conversations off campus and in person. One of our discussions that stuck with me was the discussion about the 4 C's of technology: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. It was interesting to hear my peers talk about their 5 th  C and the relationship to their practice. This discussion helped me understand that technology is more than an add on. On the contrary, technology today is a tool to maximize content instruction an...

What I got from my technology class

Some of my favorite assignments for  EEND675C class was using different applications from the google ecosystem. I feel more comfortable using slides and creating lessons on this app. at the same time,  I was able  to  create my google classroom. Having the opportunity to try this google tool made me more confident using this technology to enhance my practice. The Google classroom was user-friendly and fun!   I would like to use this google classroom website to communicate with parents, share with my students, and colleagues.  For this current year, I plan to add a link on my canvas site so families and students can access it. This year’s goal is to integrate digital portfolios in my classroom, so students can showcase their work. At the same time, it could serve it will serve as a piece of assessment evidence.  Another tool that I enjoy using was the developing my twitter account to connect with other teachers and participate in current conve...

RAT technology track

Getting to know different integrations models TPACK, SAMR and RAT helped me have a better understanding incorporating technology and pedagogy. One of the models is the TPACK Technology Pedagogical Content Knowledge, is a model that helps teachers understand the effective use of technology in their curriculum.  TPACK is very similar to Backward Design pedagogy.  Both methods are similar because they start with an idea what students will learn, how students will show what they know, and the application of the task in the world.  The SAMR model Substitution Augmentation, Modification Redefinitions, is described as a technological ladder.  The technological demands for students increase from basic to more arduous tasks promoting the development of higher level thinking.   The last model is the RAT Replacement Application and Transformation is a simplified form of the two prior models.  Using any of these models during teac...
