Getting to know different integrations models TPACK, SAMR and RAT helped me
have a better understanding incorporating technology and pedagogy. One of the
models is the TPACK Technology Pedagogical Content Knowledge, is a model that
helps teachers understand the effective use of technology in their
curriculum.
TPACK is very similar to Backward Design pedagogy.
Both methods are similar because they start with an idea what students
will learn, how students will show what they know, and the application of the
task in the world. The SAMR model Substitution Augmentation,
Modification Redefinitions, is described as a technological ladder.
The technological demands for students increase from basic to more arduous
tasks promoting the development of higher level thinking. The last model
is the RAT Replacement Application and Transformation is a simplified form
of the two prior models.
Using any of these models during teaching and planning in an authentic way,
it will help improve educational outcomes. These models are similar to the
other pedagogical theories. The key is choosing one that fits most to educator's
practice, style, and the technological needs of her students.
Personally, I
feel that RAT is an easier model to follow and remember during planning.
Using any of these models in your practice will enhance
student’s education. I believe is more of a preference. At this point in my
career, I feel more comfortable using the RAT model during planning because it
is simple and easy to remember during planning.
For a technological beginner
like me, I would like to keep it short and simple until my level of comfort
increases.

ReplyDeleteTulia, this is definitely the key! One model may be a better fit for one educator compared to another.
