A set back...another opportunity to learn!

The first two days of the week, I planned and cooked both dinner and lunch meals. The rest of the week, we had to travel, so we had to eat out for most meals. I felt disappointed in myself for not continuing my good progress and options for dinner. When this happens, I feel like I’ve pressed the snooze button and silence my conscience an, ultimately it’s a set back for the primary goal. I feel like this when I don't have a plan or set routine. Also, I will enlist some of my friends and family to keep me on track. At restaurants, I will continue ordering dishes that contain 30% vegetables, 25% protein, 20% whole grain carbs. I am planning to visit local farmers markets in the cities that I will be attending.   One of the farmer's markets I am visiting is the Dane County Farmers Market (DCFM) located in downtown Madison, WI. After reviewing my diet for a week, I noticed that I was consuming more red foods, and I was eating large portions of yellow foods (refined carbs and steak). I also saw that I eat at a restaurant four or five times a week. Knowing this made me realize that I needed to include more vegetables in my diet, eat less red meat, ...

However, I was different from other girls.  The ideal was slender and tall. I was short and “muscular.” In my mind, I wanted to become like my peers. So peer pressure kicked in, and I started doing crazy crash diets: the cabbage soup diet, the lettuce and chicken tuna diet, the pineapple diet, “cleanses,”  Atkins, Keto, South Beach, and Paleo. You name it, I tried it! Things got worse once I left home for college and work.  I stopped exercising but didn’t stop eating, and my weight went up.  I began exercising (Crossfit) regularly again two years ago, after the birth of my son.   Going to the gym helped some with my weight, but the results have been slow and inconsistent due to my unhealthy eating habits.   Losing weight is important to me.  I would feel better about...
