During my technology learning process, I wanted to find an application that will help me keep track of my student’s participation, behavior, collaboration, and academic progress. I came across to Dojo class. Class Dojo is management/ digital class portfolio. Currently, as everyone else in my district, I am using Seesaw. I think that this app does the work for a digital portfolio but is lacking on aspects that help me evaluate my student's engagement, participation, and collaboration.
At first, I started using class dojo as award system in the classrooms according to our rules and expectations. Students receive automatic feedback of their behavior which improved dramatically. One of the greatest advantages of this application is that students are all working for the same objective. Students can collaborate with peers and showcase their day with parents. I started to play around with the application and found out that it had SEL activities that encourage students being problem solvers and reflective thinkers. Since I am partially using this application, I wonder how the digital journal works and if is worth change from Seesaw to Dojo Class. Is it worth changing this collaborative platforms? Are there any other resources that facilitate learning?
Thanks for sharing your experience with Class Dojo. One grade level in our building is using it and I've found that some of my students have bought into the process and seek to earn Dojos, while a few others are having a hard time. In one class it is all verbal, students can ask teacher about their current Dojo points, yet don't have a way to access their own point totals. You've shared some interesting ideas and thoughts, I'll be looking into more of what Dojo has to offer. I am also seeking SEL activities.... have you found any that fit with the Tri 1 focus for your grade level?
